If you have met her puppies, you already recognize that Sheila Mesick of Prestige Lancashire Heelers is a meritorious breeder. Now the AKC recognizes her for the care she takes in selecting and testing sires and dams, and for prioritizing the health, temperament, and well-being of the puppies. The AKC also celebrates her commitment to the AKC mission by individually registering 100% of her puppies.
Several puppies bred or co-bred by Sheila have gone on to land some combination of AKC Conformation, Performance, or Companion event titles. She ensures that applicable health tests are not only performed on her breeding stock, but that the results are reported in the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) database for all to see.
Thirteen Prestige Lancashire Heelers have health screening data posted on the OFA website for all to see and study. (August, 2026)
I grew up in Billings, Montana and graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a double major in art and English. I have a Master's degree in psychology and worked for 35 years in a variety of settings including operating a one-man satellite office for the regional Mental Health Center based out of Miles City, and as an educational psychologist serving a rural special education cooperative based out of Laurel, Montana. In 1997 I was Montana's School Psychologist of the Year. I am retired since the beginning of 2006.
In 1984, I married a granddaughter of Ernest H. Buehl, Sr. My acquired membership in the Buehl family led me into my second career. To my great surprise, I have become an authority on topics related to the early history of civilian aviation.
