An announcement made ripples across the Internet and blogosphere last February. High levels of heavy metals have been found in most commercial foods, especially kibble.
So I returned to my old habit of feeding 100% raw. I’ve done it for literally decades, but recently went to kibble because of my own infirmities. But in light of the recent news regarding kibble and high metal content, as well as plastic, it’s back to raw for me. Fortunately, I have a good supplier of raw foods.
People have been asking me what/how I do this.
Variety is key, that and make sure you know what you’re doing to create complete the meals. It’s so much more than just giving your dog raw hamburger, cooked chicken, or whatever the protein du jour is making the rounds on the web.
Today I spent time rounding up my quail eggs and sardines for the omegas.Today’ss meal is a blend of 80/10/10 ground chicken and beef with a quail egg on top.
Tomorrow, I’ll use up the chicken and beef blend and bring it up to the proper amount with a lamb blend, and they will get a sardine on top. It’s important to use different proteins unless, of course, your dog has allergies to any.
I must admit I enjoy feeding raw and sourcing necessary ingredients. Nowtomorrow’ss breakfast is dished up and covered in the fridge. I will top it off a special ingredient in the morning before feeding.
